In this two-session workshop, Gretchen will guide participants through the traditional process of two-needle beadwork with the goal of making a pendant while learning about Nez Perce beading traditions.

About the facilitator

Dr Gretchen Stolte is a Nimi’ipuu (Nez Perce) Native American who has lived and worked as a material culture anthropologist in Australia for over 15 years. She is a practice-based artist exploring beads, textiles and fibres that celebrates her heritage while developing cross-cultural understandings of cultural art making. Dr Stolte currently teaches anthropology at the University of Western Australia, focusing on material culture and First Nations peoples.
